Meksi “competent” in VEFA

INVESTIGATIVE DISCLOSURE: The path of 140 million USD: From the bank to Alimuça’s safes Meksi “competent” in VEFA Prosecutors: Responsible for the movement of the money, the former prime minister page 6 Dialogue to continue A few days ago Prime Minister Nano put forward the idea of starting a dialogue with the opposition on reforms and on ensuring social peace within the country. The idea was made known through a request addressed to the number two of the PDSH, Tritan Shehu. In this way Nano extended an invitation so that Albanians could see that throughout the country it would escape the axe of that power which for three years has led the country at least twice to the brink of the Albanian catastrophe. While the former prime minister calls the idea of dialogue below the level required with parties that should be brought toward consensus, the leader of the parliamentary group of the PS has stated that it will not only continue to exist, but that it will be an opportunity for meetings and understanding. Warning that the opposition protests are coming to an end, and that tomorrow it will stage another demonstration, the journalist observed that it is hard to believe that Berisha would seek dialogue with the side he is economically warning against. By bypassing the agreement on the withdrawal of weapons and the closing of political trials, which was also deemed harmful by the Madrid agreement, the opposition is using harsh and dangerous rhetoric. To reach a compromise, according to the newspaper, it is ready to pay a heavy price, something that serves the interests of Galerë. The success the opposition is aiming for is the overthrow of the government and, through the destabilization of the country, amid fever and hatred, to manage to change the roles that it would sanction. Indeed, above all, this is a solution and the end of left-wing rule; but in the current tense atmosphere, few Albanians, the Albanian political forces certainly, the foreign political forces in the country, as well as the independent media, think that such a thing would be acceptable. Never in these days have many forces been convinced that the arrest of former Defence Minister Safet Zhulali and reports of other arrests can be used by the opposition as an argument to pressure the protest. However, on the other hand, it is quite clear that the responsibilities for a crisis are growing while there is an urgent need to restore institutional control. Therefore, the demand to hold the protest on Monday is absurd, equally harmful to the stability of this government, but just as harmful to Albanian democracy. This explains that, in the end, the coming weeks may enter a new stage of Albanian politics, where it will become clear who is interested in peace and who in conflict. From this point of view, it seems that regardless of the number of demonstrators, the opposition’s action would be completely senseless if it did not aim at a show of force and an attempt to impose itself under conditions of heightened tension. Likewise, the possible organizers would take any action to give the rally an economic character. Bearing in mind yesterday’s agreement by the trade unions on wage increases for the administration, the dialogue declared by Nano is neither excessive nor premature. In these stormy political and economic days, it would be good if such an agreement were reached through responsibility. In this way a harsh civil conflict would be avoided, Berisha’s regime would be quietly and democratically removed, making it easier for the PS to make changes all the way to the political closure after 24 June. But, as we all know, this depends first of all on the wish of yesterday, something that still has not happened. Therefore, the prime minister’s repeated request will once and for all take on the value of a test. It thus depends on Berisha’s political instinct whether dialogue will remain a slogan or a way out.
